Our Beginning

The Conversation

One of our co-founders taught Mathematics at a school with a high percentage of low-income students. She asked a particular student if he could attend after school tutoring due to his performance in Math. "I wouldn't have a ride." the child said. Our co-founder then asked the student could he ask his mom about private tutoring. He started crying and said, "My mom has just enough for the bills. She would laugh if I asked her to pay for private tutoring." Our co-founder provided the child with a solution to his current dilemma, and the idea of creating a way to provide students with FREE math tutoring resulted from this one conversation. Shortly thereafter the birth of MathValues, Inc. occurred.

Our Mission

MathValues, Inc. commits itself to assisting adolescents in their Mathematical academic growth and cultivating children’s lives through mentorship. The purpose of MathValues, Inc. is to promote positive academic relationships in math education by providing students with foundational resources that optimize children’s mathematical development through math tutoring and adolescent mentoring. Our mission is to close the achievement gap for underperforming children who need extra assistance in Mathematics by providing students with FREE math tutoring.
